Model: Glanton Knife
This is a large hammer-forged rustic scalping knife called the "Glanton" knife. If you don't know the history of John Joel Glanton and his gang, it is something you need to research - just be prepared for a tragic and gory story of the 1840's American Southwest. I created this knife as a depiction of the style of knife that might have been carried by one of the characters in the historical fiction book Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West by Cormac McCarthy. This knife is not to honor the evil men or deeds in the story, but to the dark and real history where governments endorsed and paid for the scalps of men, women, and children - a history we should not soon forget. A beautiful and unique knife for the collector or the outdoorsman.

The blade is hammer forged from high carbon steel and has a rustic appearance with my special patina applied to the blade. The blade has a false edge just prior to where the spine and tip meet. Hammer and forging marks are visible on the blade. Genuine dark brown leather sheath with gold and ox blood red accents. The sheath is handcrafted and hand stitched with loop and snaps to secure the knife to the sheath. Made in El Paso, TX.
