If I could pick a knife to have with me in the wilderness - the Zia Knife is my pick. This knife pays homage to the American Southwest. I designed it to meet the demands of this unforgiving environment. Well balanced, it offers excellent control with both small and large knife tasks in the wilderness. It is designed to be a jack-of-all-trades.

The knife pays homage to the Mescalero Apache Indian Tribe of Southern New Mexico. A rugged, tough, and deeply spiritual people who lived in the shadows of the Sacred Mountain, Sierra Blanca, where it provided water, wildlife, and protection. It was the training ground where Apache boys came of age and became warriors.

The Gila Knife has a large stout blade that provides excellent chopping and slicing performance. Beautiful Nessmuk design I call the "Gila" Knife. Full tang with forced patina carbon steel blade. Patina resembles Gila Monster's skin. Convex grind. 90 degree spine. Gila Monster native symbol etched on blade. Sculpted curly maple wood scales, brass pins and brass spacers. Comes with a beautiful 100% veg tan thick handmade leather sheath with copper rivets. Leather is oil rubbed. This knife is NOT a production knife and is handmade with unique character; visible hammer marks, forge scale marks, and grind marks are visible on blade. Knife has a vintage mountain man feel and look. Heavy duty knife is perfect for hunting, camp, and bushcraft. Comes sharp!

Below are photos of custom knives I've crafted for customers. I use 1095 high carbon and 5160 spring steel. The "Fast Hand" below was made out of a truck leaf spring. I also have built knives using the popular and classic Mora Knife blade. I've used Elk jaw bone to make knife handles and even a sheath! I've made custom sheaths for customers who had a family heirloom knife in need of a sheath. I've made theme inspired knives, such as the Roman Legion inspired Mora Knife below. I'm willing to push the limits on creating traditional and rustic knives to create a functional work of art.
