Model: "Rio Grande" Bowie Knife
The American Bowie Knife is perhaps the most well known knife in American culture with a long history in the American West. Large, rustic, and stout this Bowie knife is visually elegant and intimidating. This knife is all business. A true American wilderness tool and fighting knife.
Description: This specific knife pictured above has walnut scales with large brass rivets. The scales are aged and rustic with indents and hammer marks that give it texture and a vintage look and feel. The quillion or hand guard is "S" shaped and has engraved scrolls on each end. The guard was handcrafted from 1095 steel and is heat treated, tempered, and spot welded to the blade for durability (spot welds are hidden). The 1095 carbon steel blade has an old-world-look patina with a satin edge that is very sharp. The leather sheath is handcrafted from 100% veg-tan and is hand-stitched with a retention strap that fits over the guard. This knife is NOT a mass production knife and is handmade with unique character; visible hammer marks, forge scale marks, and grind marks may be visible on the blade.
